RE: powdercoat Vs paint on my rims????
Powder coating is easy to do at home by yourself. All you need is a junker electric oven (has to be electric NOT gas!!!) that can heat to 425 deg. F and powder-coating kit. You can get them from Eastwood Company I think (if they're still in business). I rebuilt a '65 Mustang from the frame up and I powder coated all the pieces myself. Once you bake powder coat in the oven you CANNOT cook food in it again, so don't go using your wife's or your mommy's new oven. Also, don't forget that powder coating thickens the diameter of all that it coats, so be sure to cover any bolt holes, axle holes, etc before coating or the parts won't fit back together again. Buying an old oven at a yard sale and buying a home kit will probably cost more than just going to a shop and having your wheels done. But, if you learn to do it yourself, you will have greater satisfaction and can have no limit as to what metal parts on your bike you can caot (except it has to fit in your oven). When you tell your buddies that you know how to coat, you might even be able to get free beer, gas, money, etc... for coating stuff for them. Oh, and by the way, powder coating is a LOT more durable than paint... totally worth the money!
