Is it possible to swap fork parts?
Bought a whole (forks, triples, calipers, cables, wheel etc) 2006 CBR1000RR front end earlier this year, or at least that's what I thought.
One of the forks had a leaky seal so I ordered new seals. Finally got all the equipment (32mm socket, vise, seal jammer, collar holder) and was disassembling the forks yesterday to put in new seals. Long story short, ended up breaking the collar spring. Today went to order a new one

Noticed the parts diagram didn't quite match the forks I had disassembled. Out of curiosity I decided to look at the 2008 diagram
https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/ho...000/front-fork
Which look almost exactly what my forks look like (see attached image below) with the EXCEPTION of the fender mounting bolts, mine have two which the 2006 also do but the 2008 only have one mounting hole
I understand the CBR1000 was revamped after 2007 so 2004-2007 and then 2008-2011. I have no idea how to explain below other than the PO decided to go all Frankenstein.
Tried to reach out to Honda to see if there were any unique visual identifiers to confirm which year but they weren't much help. Anyone have any idea? Want to confirm because I need to order a new collar spring and both models have different part #. In addition, they have different part #s for the fork seals so not sure if I need to return the ones I got for the 2006 and reorder the 2008. Lastly, I was planning to put these on an old CB but it's only compatible with the 2004-2007 so that would be biggest upset of this whole scenario.
Would anyone know the front end specs for each generation? or at least direct me to any link/sources that could provide that information?

Yeah I'm wondering if that's possible, but every dealer/service center I call says it's not because they're different generations which got me thinking I'm going crazy.
