Plasti dip, who's used it?
Hey everybody, got a quick question...
Before getting my bike, I was (and still am) into cars. A lot of people have looked to repaint their cars, and it's not an inexpensive task if you want it to come out looking good. Spray paint...isn't great, and to take it to a good shop could cost thousands.
So, a lot of people have tried a product called plasti-dip. It comes in many forms and a few colors, black, white, and red but you can also mix your own if you buy it in a non spray can form and add dyes to the clear.
Anyways, it's cool stuff, it sprays on and creates a slightly texurized, and rubbery layer of protection. It's pretty cheap ($7 for a can) and it's just like spray paint. However the coolest part by far (at least to me) is that if you want to get back to your old paint, you just chip and edge of it and you can peel it off. It just peels right off and leaves all the original paint there.
Anyways, I was looking into using some to paint my motorcycle since my fairings are pretty crappy from my latest deal, and I don't have the time or space to do a proper repaint of my bike. I was thinking about doing a flat white, but having the tail piece over the brake light, gas tank, front fender, and part of the headlight cover all in black, as well as a black seat and black tinted windscreen. It would have a sort of black stripe running up the middle of the white bike.
Anyways, I was wondering if anybody had used it on their bike before and the results they got? It adheres to anything supposedly, so I was thinking of doing a few more bits on my bike that were scraped up, like maybe the stator cover in black, front and rear wheels in black and the swingarms/front forks in black too.
Just wondering what everybody thought of this product and if anybody has used it?

You want to plasti-dip your body work?
Thats going to weigh quite a bit and be pretty costly I would think.
I've used Plasti-Dip for alot of things, its pretty cool stuff. Can't imagine a good reason to coat a bike in it.
Now I've even seen people Rhino coat/ Bedliner their entire bikes, I'd expect similar results..... neither being truly practical or attractive.

Well, plasti dip isn't too heavy, plus I'm 135 pounds...there are 200 pound people riding the same bike without power issues...I'm not too worried about the weight.
Plasti dip comes out a lot different than rhino liner/bedliner, it's much finer, and you can gloss it, or make it matte...a lot of people do it to their entire car with great results, you just have to be patient when applying it.

Here's a thread... https://cbrforum.com/forum/detailing...98/#post907167
Good thread on some uses... https://cbrforum.com/forum/how-mecha...ecurity-98956/
Some use it on their levers as well.
