PGM-fi unit
I was told to come here with my problem on my bike so here it goes....I have an 01 CBR600f4i that ran fine last friday then suddenly when i went to start it monday there was a buzzing sound (as I pushed down on the start button) from the PGM then the start relay was clicking. I used some mechanical agitation on the relay with a screw driver and the bike would start and run. turn it off and the process started all over again. I know that mechanical relays the contacts can get bad so I purchased a new relay well that didnt work so now im thinking the buzzing from the PGM might mean its done.......has anyone had this problem? Do I basically part the bike out because a new PGM is $800

PGM = ECU? I think thats what your talking about at $800. Does the Fi light come on and flash a code? I would get a new battery if it's older and try it before getting an ECU. Low batteries will do crazy things to an F4i. It should through up code if your ECU is bad. I also do know why the bike would run fine if the ECU was fried. I don't think I would buy one just yet it could be a few things.

So today i did find that the ground was loose not real loose just a bit. I fixed that and the buzzing and clicking went away, i turn the key to on and the solenoid clicks and I can hear the fuel pump primebut still no start. I have checked all the fuses and they all are good. The bat was down to 12.5 goes to 11.7 when I try to start it then goes back to around 12.5 so I put a charger on it and got it charged over 13v tried again and still wont start. it is like i am getting no fuel (there is fuel in the tank). How much should I read on a batt before and after starting? I have only had this batt since feb 09, can the fuel pump prime but still be bad?

so today I checked that there was flow comming from the fuel pump and it is. I checked the the injector Ohms and they all are about the same from 11.7 to 11.9 ohms. I am thinking maybe its not getting spark does anyone know what would be involved or could be preventing spark? How would I check for spark other than taking the plug out pushing the start button with the plug close to a ground? It has new plugs less than 6 months ago

Wow I am impressed most guys have no idea what they are doing. Okay so you have no spark but you have fuel, and the starter is cranking. Could be your fuel pressure regulator. It could be a Bank angle sensor (up fornt in the cowl) causing no spark. It could be the kickstand switch causing no spark also. I always take one for the team and hold the spark plug and crank it over. You can check it with your tester. If you have spark then it is fuel related and could be the pump or fuel pressure regulator.
