Default Overheating problem ???

At first I just wanna state that I am not a owner of the bike but my friend is. He bought a 2003 CBR 954 RR from hsi friend. The other guy had a little accident (nothign major except a few cosmetic). First off

1. What coolant should we use? > We used a green Prestone for now

2.What is the proper temperature while at idle > his bike goes all the way up to 215 then a fan turn out drops it to around 208 then comes back on again.

3. What is the average temp while cruising in the city? > when we took it for the cruise it stayed around 205-208.

Are these temps normal for this model . If not could you post your suggestions what might be wrong with it.

That sounds about right for the fans and idle temps, ect. Onmy600F4idepending on the weather outside i go anywhere from 170-200 while riding and up to 228ish till the fans kick on.I dont know what coolant to use,I figure any that you trust in your car will do, but i'd read your manual and see if there's anything about what coolant to use, and what to avoid.

I think that the manufacturer suggests just using the green stuff diluted half and half with some water. I have an 01 F4i and the manufacturer states that we cannot use the other stuff (orange coolant, only green in the bikes). I would check out what the manufacturer recommends. Also a couple riders suggested not diluting the green coolant as per manufacturer suggestions. So I flushed the system and just put the 100% green stuff and my average temps have gone down about 10 degrees. But your friends bike sounds like its running pretty normal.

Make sure you don't use tap water in mixing.
Use some filtered, distilled water...and/or the cleanest stuff you can get.

Lower temp thermostat? You can get something like that for bikes at an autoparts store?
