RE: Which oil to use!??
muahahah...IDK...
i definitely wouldn't do it at 500...but for high revving bikes...i THINK 4k is good...but if you want to be safe, you can wait until 8K...but it's all up to you!!! it's not going to hurt the bike any to wait longer...and not to wait that long, you won't notice the difference either you know?
so...it's up to YOU...and your badass bike...07rr baby........

RE: Which oil to use!??
So you guys are seriously blowing my mind...6000-8000 miles!!!
seriously!!!
WOW!
I love to change oil early on my car and just figured that would be the way to go on the bike. I ride her hard (who wouldnt!) and want to be a gooood daddy!!
The friend of mine who works at Honda said I could just change it out at 4K and it would be ok, but I did notice the manual said 8500. Freakin confusing!!!
So synthetic after this next oil change (my second essentially) and for the first change? A reputable non-syn oil?
I cant thank you all enough!

you know...just change now if you'd like...you won't notice the difference!
and as far as going for synthetic vs. dino...synthetics do protect better...and may be smoother (dino oils these days are great too) as well, however, if you're not keeping the bike forever, then it doesn't really matter what you use (i.e. wear at 100K for dino vs. syn). the only other part is resale...not it doesn't add to the value but if you tell someone that you've used synthetic then their eyes open wide and money floats out of their pockets easier than if you say...i used brand xxx dino oil...
