Oil pressure light
Hey guys, I tried to search but didnt come up with anything that really fit my situation.
2001 cbr 929 14K miles. no performance stuff besides pipe and brake lines.
This is the issue that I am having: only when on the highway at speed when I am around 5k to 6k rpm my redoil pressurelight comes on. When this happens I turn the bike off and turn it back on and no problem. Then a few miles down the road comes on again. I have had to ride at 55 mph in a 75 to make the light not come on.
this happened once in Hawaii (thats where the bike is from) and i took it to the dealer. I had them change oil and look into it. it never came on again until I moved to CO. I have changed the oil a few times since I got the bike back to Denver.
I thought maybe it needed to be re-calibrated for the higher altitude but a buddy of mine who works at a dealer said that fuel injected bikes dont need to do that.
I am worried that its aoil pump (cause thats one of the issues the manual said it could be). but it might just be a sensor that needs to be reset.
anybody have this happen to them? know anything about it?

RE: Oil pressure light
My guess is the light comes on when the oil pressure is scary low. I would change the sensor first and then look towards the pump. I have an old vette that has a guage, the gauge read low once in a while, the oil pick-up had a crap load of plastic from the original timing chain. I don't know of anything like that in your motor so your guess is as good as mine.
Good luck keep us posted.

RE: Oil pressure light
yeah i checked that... it looks good but somebody from another forum told me that he just added about 1/2 a quart and the light never came on again.
also,,, this could be a level light not pressure. sorry about that. (honestly the bike has been winterized and I want to get it out on the road again but I havent looked at it in a little while).
