I just put a fram on my Navigator 5 hrs. ago dangit...didnt know fram sucked donkeyballs....~sighs~

now im wantin' to go take it off..LOL

 

or buy some donkey ***** to appease the fram filter...then maybe it won't ruin your ride! hahhah...

 

The only filter ive used on my F4i is Frams (two different model #s will work.) They are one of the biggest filter manufacturers and know what they are doing. Honda just repackages others oil and filters and makes a few bucks on it. Assuming you change the oil and filter on time, decent oil trumps the filter every time. Guess who is spreading testimonials on oil filter horrors... other oil filter companies. Never heard of any oil filter problems of any kind coming from people on the street.

 

no mang...them fram horror stories weren't from other manufacturers...it's your DIY people who just tear the schiznit apart...

one of the riders from a regional forum i frequent used FRAM and blackstone picked it up real quick in the analysis!

 

In decades of working on bikes/cars Ive yet to hear of a single problem with ANY oil filter other from motors that have been horribly
abused by inattention. Go with any recognized filter brand, change the stuff at decent intervals and you wont have to hack saw them
apart for amusement.

 

i was merely posting a fact of what Blackstone Laboratory's test of oil from a zx10r has shown...and this isn't the first time that it has show that. everything comes up on these tests, from dirt particles from not running a filter to over oiling a filter to metal shavings from the engine itself.

i do concur with your statement regarding frequent oil changes.

 

the filter itself is actually a pretty good filter material. The filter ENDS that contain the filter is whats made of cardboard. I'm sure I wont be able to find it right now but a THOROUGH write-up was done and Wic actually was on top of oil filters when it came to build quality and filter particularity content. I'll try to find it.

i'm betting that fram has up'd their stuff since they had these problems...but i just can't believe that you haven't heard anything about the carboard end caps failing or the cheap bypass valves sticking open if you've been around bikes and cars for so long.

 

There is going to be a certain amount of failure on ANY brand of anything. Drive enough Chevy's and one is bound to break. Same with Fords, Dodge etc. Oil filters are no different. If you use enough of them, you will possibly find a bad one. Does that mean it's a ****ty product? Not really. If you used enough Bosh filters, one is bound to fail also. Get what ever you want and dont worry about it. FYI, I have always used Fram in my race cars, daily drivers, and bikes and have yet to have a problem.
This is really no different than the great oil debate. Some people like one..........others like another.

 

Tahoe when I checked out your link under [5] it says that none of them are recommended? In other catagories it says only in blue is recommended.
