Oil on carb
Yello. Mechanical novice here. On my way to the spark plugs, after taking off air filter housing, one of the carb inlets has oil around gasket. Do I just need to put in new gasket or is it more serious? Or do I need to do nothing. I also have broken fuel pump - could the number of times I turned the bike over trying to get it to start have caused the problem?
Thanks in advance.
I'm having a problem uploading an image - I will do when I get it to work.

You can replace the gasket, or clean it up and reuse it if it's not too bad. I'd just wipe up the oil and keep an eye on it for future leaks from somewhere else. There are no oil passageways in the carburetors. It is possible to overheat a starter and cause problems, but so long as you're not turning it over continuously for long periods of time I think you're fine. The battery would probably go dead before any problems developed anyway.
