I just bought a used 2001 CBR F4i. It is in perfect mechanicalrunning order , however, I did notice that there is a problem with theinstrument panel. The odomoder works fine (I have approx 31600km on the bike), and the clockand trip meter works as well when I am riding the bike. As soon as I turn the ignition off and turn it back on, the time resets to 1:00am and the trip meter goes back to zero. Any ideas on what the issue is and how to fix it?

 

your memory isnt working for some reason. Could be a simple loose connection, try to make sure your plug is all the way in on your cluster. Or, could be a fried circut.

Are there any mods to the bikes electronics? Power commander or anything?

 

There does not appear to be any mods on the bike at all. All the parts appear to be stock including the exhaust. Please excuse my ignorance as I am not a mechanic; how difficult is it to check the plug to see if it is plugged in all the way? Can I do this without taking the bike appart, or will I need to start removing parts to get to it? Any idea cost-wise what to expect if I need to replace the circuit?

 

Im not 100 percent sure on your bike where th connection is. But, there should be a wire loom just below your speedo. there should be a fairly wide block (plug) in that area. You may have to pull back the protective rubber that is covering it. I would unplug it and look to make sure its not corroded.
