Default Odd sound

Ok I am a new rider.I am pretty good mechanically. But I am a little worried.
I have a2002 f4i took it out for a ride yesterday. As iwas riding halfway through
My ride I started to hear very audible clicking. So I when pressing the brake front or rear does not modify sound. It goes at a speed associated rythem but when clutched it stops and when in gear it continues. Thinking it could be a tention issue under load.
I am planning on doing a sprocket set and chain already... and a new clutch and spring kit........Could it be a transmission issue is my main concern....

This is my first bike and first I have ever worked on....

Bad chain link maybe. Kinda hard to tell without hearing it, but based on your description, I'm thinking chain is bad.

Thats what I am hoping.... We will see soon enough.... I read alot of threads concerning issues like this but the only difference from my issue from the others is it goes away when clutched .... also to note it has 60T rear and a stock 16 sprocket.....
