No spark!!
Hi, I need some help.
My CBR900 RRV would not start after a short ride. There was no spark.
I checked the continuity of the wiring against the wiring diagram and could not get continuity between the coil(s) and ICU on the black/white wire. I think this was cut to connect the spyball patriot immobilizer. However, I ran a bypass wire and there was still no spark.
Resistance of pulse generator is 480 ohms at the connector block, 500 ohms at the ICU. Could not test voltage output because sampling frequency of my cheapo meter isn’t high enough and it has no peak voltage capability.
Power is at the coils. I'm guessing it is highly unlikely for both to fail catastrophically at the same time so am ruling out the coils.
Side-stand switch OK.
So, I'm guessing the pulse generator is OK, the immobilizer is OK, the wiring is OK.
And now I’m lost – what else could it be? Has anybody got any ideas?
Although old, the bike has 20k miles and was not displaying any symptoms.
Plug color is spot on, so there is nothing that could trigger a failure.
Thanks
