Default New Rider questions?

Hey everyone, just got my first bike last week and i am loving it 02CBR F4i. I was wondering what is a good lube for the chain? Also, with the wax, what does this do for your bike and is it necessary? How often do you guys change your oil? I only have 2800 miles and it was done at 600, the manual says not again until 8k is this correct or should i do it sooner?
Thanks!

For the chain wax, it is just a chain lube that doesnt fling off all over your bike when you go to ride. And if you just bought the bike I would change the oil right away just to be safe, then you can change it every 3k miles just like a car. And some riders change it sooner than that. Good luck

Change your oil, it is easy and cheap. Search on this forum for the 'how to change your oil' thread, most people change every couple of thou.

Ditto with chain lube how to. Do a search, and it'll say you a lot of guesswork.

theres a lot of different chain lube, most chain wax has less fling, thats what I use, just clean the chain good before puting on....was a good post earlier this month on chain wax and cleaning

ok, thanks for the help. I will change the oil today when i get home from work, so a basic lube works just fine? Sounds good
