Default New motorcycle maintenance

Getting a new bike soon. Probably gonna be a 09 model CBR 1000 or newer, but I was wondering about doing routine maintenance on the bike. I work on cars so bikes are a little different for me. What types of maintenance is done routinely, and how often between each time should it be done ? Like, how often to replace oil, coolant, brake pads, valve checks, or any other types of fluids. I plan to buy a service manual and whatever else may help me ensure proper procedures, but I'm just planning ahead. Thanks in advance ! Also, if it matters, my bike won't be on the track. It's mostly highway riding. 60-70 mph alot, but I love my fast acceleration !

Get yourself a copy of the factory Honda service manual. Follow the service schedule outlined.

Get yourself a set of stands (front & back). They will help immensely w/ servicing your bike.

I had a set of stands from cycle gear, they were cheap and good for the price. They should get you through any maintenance and will run you maybe $100 for the set. However, if you start getting real into it and start taking the bike apart than I would go for a set of pitbulls or like brand; they are however, a lot more expensive. I bought a calmer manual than downloaded the factory one and that has served me pretty well. As far as routine maintenance, check your tire pressure and do a walk around before you hop on. It just might save your life someday. Before you buy the bike I would check out the state of the rubber of the tire. They do expire after about 5 years and if the po or dealer has been putting anything on like tire shine it can and will ruin the tire. I believe the code is 4 digits the first two are the week it was made in the the second two are the yeR
