New Ignition Problems
I posted this in the f4i section as well but figured it couldnt hurt to post here as well....
So i had to replace the ignition on my bike and bought a used one online and swapped them out. Once the new one was on the bike turned on but the fuel pump wouldnt prime and obviously the bike wouldnt start. I put the old ignition back in and the bike started up. Put the new tumbler in the old ignition and the fuel pump wouldnt prime again. I tried changing the diode in the new ignition and still nothing. Tried to jump the fuel pump to no avail. I used a volt meter and the pink ignition wire isnt getting power, the long side of the diode isnt getting power but the short side is, and of course the fuel pump isnt getting power. Is this anti-theft/immobilizer related? because i can hear the ignition relay but then thats it

Is your bike equiped with the Honda's HISS?
If so, you can't just replace the tumbler with any tumbler. The entire system has to match, (ecu, tumbler and key), and it can be extremly expensive to get it done. If this is the case, and you want to convert to a non HISS system, I believe you can get a wiring harness and ecu from a non HISS system, then you can use any tumbler you want.
The HISS is a good system, until you have to replace things. Maybe a call to a dealership and see if they can get you a tumbler and program a key for your bike. That may be the cheapest route. Just make sure to get more than one key made.
