hello everyone,
the bike that i have bought CBR600F is very new just 100kms done now. but its a older model, 2003, and it was sitting all its life! due to which the chain has rusted, should i get a new chain or is there something that can be done about the chain? pls advice on how i can be safe than sorry. thanx!

If it's just spotty on the outside links then oil it and let it go. It's ugly but not dangerous. You can clean it with some kerosene and get most of the rust off. On the other hand, if you have rust or pitting on the rollers then you'll have to toss it. If they bind up then you'll wear the **** outta the sprockets and run the risk of the chain breaking.

 

I kinda think that maybe the "O" ring rubber could have perished, anyway you will soon notice.

 

replace the chain. not worth takin the risk. as for keepin ur new one nice and shiny try this.
