need some help very badly! anyone work at a honda dealer?
ok here is my problem.....
I bought a 929 from a friend, who purchased the bike new in 2001. He lived in Cali at the time and bought it there. A year or two went buy and he wrecked the bike, instead of letting insurance total the bike, he just had them buy him a new frame(something happened to the head tube, where the race goes in at the top). He got the new frame and took it straight to the powdercoat guy, didnt even open the box. We the powder coat guy removed the VIN sticker from the frame. Well he had no problems until he moved back to Alabama and tried to get a tag, the tag agency noticed there was no VIN stamped on the frame. My friend is a BMW motorcycle technician, so he stamped the frame with the VIN..............but he made a mistake, where there was supposed to be a S he stamped a Z. Well the tag agency in Alabama didnt notice either, and neither did my friend. Fast forward to now when I bought the bike. I took the bike to the tag agency and they noticed the typo on the frame. The sent me to the DMV to get a VIN verification. Well they are telling me I have to get another new frame...$1400 plus labor for that. My friend is going to take care of it or we are going to work it out. My question from you guys is, is there anyway around this or maybe another way to get a VIN sticker? Please someone help me!!!!
