Need Help with my F4!
Hey whats up guys, i'm new here to the forum and wasn't sure where I should post this question. But I just bought myself a 00 Cbr F4 red/silver with 16K on it. I took it out for a ride today, and I noticed that after it got warm the temp gauge wasn't too far from reaching the "hot" point on the gauge. (It was about half way between the hot and middle part of the gauge. Then I noticed that once I cut it off, the radiator made a gurgling sound like it was boiling or something? It lasted about 10 secs then quit. And I was just wanting to know if this was normal or not, and if not how do I go about fixing it?
Radiator fluid is a great place to start, then another would be the fan. The 2000 is notorious for blowing fan fuses. I had that problem until I learned this. Run the bike (After you've checked your fluids) and as it gets warm watch for the fan kicking in and turning on. If not check the fuse under the seat. There should be a spare there as well to get you to the shop to pick up another one. Then just keep an eye on the fan if you ever get hot again.[8D]
Hey whats up guys, I took it out today and it's running a good bit cooler, but the coolant in the radiator is still making that gurgle sound. And I know its not the fan because I could hear them running. And honestly I dont think it was really hot enough to make the fans come on b/c I took it out tonight and it was probably high 50's or low 60's outside. Do you think this could be something major? I really need yall's advice or any help that you could give me. Thanks.
girgling sound eh?
could be bubbles in your system...
make sure you fan works though...
could be the fan not working and the coolant boiling. coolant will boil if your cooling system pressure is low or not completely sealed.

So should I flush out the whole cooling system and put new coolant in? Do you guys think it could be a blown headgasket, or a crack in the head?? I dont hear any odd noises or anything, just the gurgling in the radiator. And I hear the fans running when the temperature gauge gets up to about halfway or so. So i'm pretty sure the fans are fine.
If it were a headgasket or craked head you would have coolant getting intot the combustion chamber and then the bike would run like absolute crap, even if you could get it started. The "gurggling" noise you hear is most likely boiling coolant becasue the system is not full, if not full it, there is air in the system and will allow the coolant boil.
Flush the system and replace it with a 50/50 mix and you should be just fine.
