Need help! loud cluncking noise with throttle inputs!
This is my secound post in this outstanding forum!
I just got my first bike, a 2004 F4i with 6000kms on the clock,
the issue here is that i hear a loud metalic clunck whenever i open or close the throttle,
i know i am not smooth with my throttle input but it does not sound right,
moreover, yesterday i applied the rear brake, locking the rear tire-while engaging the clutch/in neutral- and i hear the same cluncking noise.
is that normal? what can be the cause if not?
i also noticed the chain is a bit loose, but i wouldnt know if its right or too loose!
appreciate any input , sorry for my lack of knowledge
BTW i come from a car tuning background, specificaly BMWs, and i would just like to say that you guys are so much friendlier and helpful, and tolerate newbs a lot more! thank you !

If you can try to find the CCT on the motorcycle....
Put your ear next to it and listen to it rattle...
If you can't do any of that then bring it into a shop and ask them
to check the CCT I had the same problem and I thought it was the chain but
it wasn't it was the CCT.... Also as for your chain maybe this pic will help out.
Should be 1.2''-1.6''
Good luck keep us posted!!!

Sorry I should have given you this link instead of that stupid pic..

It's not that it fails it just that it rattles....
Oh yeah make sure you adjust on both sides of the tire please don't forget that...

+ take into account the weight of the rider. as the guy in the vid mentioned about a chain affecting suspension, so does suspension affect the chain. So the weight of the rider compresses the suspension & tightens the chain. Also measure the chain slack at the chains tightest spot. Means rotating the rear wheel until you find the tightest point between front & rear sprockets. Double check, as chains never stretch evenly & you can have more than one tight spot.

Just for clarification...
Usually not. The CCT doesn't fail, the oil pump gets worn and weaker, making the oil pressure operated CCT not work as well.
So the question is, can an oil pump be "worn" after 6000km? If you change your oil, then no, really doubtful.
Plus CCT wouldn't make a loud clunking noise, it rattles. Checking the chain is the right direction.

Ive only been riding since oct, got a 2000 f4 with 37,000 miles
Ive been reading post and stuff bout the cct and noise on the right side, but mine is on the left, and i used a rear jack to turn the wheel by hand and listen to the noise and noticed my chain when turning gets tight and then loose then tight and loose.
Is this caused by the cct also?

If it loose and tight then that means you have a TIGHT spot and you need to get
a new chain and new sprockets front and rear....

you might pull the rear wheel. Inspect the rear wheel bearings, rear sprocket bolts and pull the drive hub off and inspect the cush drive. Make sure your chain is adjusted as mentioned.
Also - take a good look at your sprockets for worn or missing teeth. you might be hearing your chain skipping under load.
