I installed a PCIII, K&N airfilter and Akrapovic slip-on exhaust the past couple days. After putting everything back together, I ended up with an extra bolt, and for obvious reasons, am a little concerned. I took the plastics back off and still couldn't find where I pulled it from. I'm pretty sure it came from around the gas tank area...any help would be greatly appreciated. It is a 2008 CBR600RR. Here are a couple pictures of the bolt. The bike runs fine, I took it around the block and there are no leaks and everything seemed to run fine.

did you check your seat bolts? not sure if it was off or not.

 

Its not the bolt off the front of the tank?

 

how about a fairing bracket, i see i have one that has what looks to be the same bolt. it goes to a metal bracket on the side of the motor.

 

Thanks for the responses, unfortunately it is not from the seat or the tank. The seat has two screws in the rear and a lip in the front. There is a screw for the tank that is under the front seat, but that is in place and the bolt would not begin to fit, it is much larger in diameter. I really appreciate the help, keep the suggestions coming.

 

Does the bike still run? If yes...throw the screw away lol. Random screws always conjure when your tinkering with your bike.

 

If its quite large in diameter check around the exhaust and around the subframe. It looks like it might be from that area. I know Ive seen that bolt before when I had it all apart but I cant think for sure where.
