Is it my battery or rectifier or something else?
Thought I would transfer this over from one of my other posts.
Synopsis: I have a 99 CBR600FX. All was well. Went to garage for restriction. Idle is very unsteady. Now lights(inc dash) flicker at idle. Fans kicks in and headlight all but disappears. Apparently newish battery(less than 1 year). I can't ride it due to not doing my onroad until Wednesday. So since I bought it at the beginning of September it has only done 6 miles(mechanic test ride after restriction). So any idling etc has been static in my garage.
I have just bought a meter and here are the readings:
Engine off-11.95
Idle -14.83
5K -14.5
Idle+lights-13.4
5K+lights -13.8
Engine off -12.34
What do these readings tell you? Have I just ran my battery down or is it something else?
Sorry for the numptiness, I really don't have a clue!!!
Thanks

I'm thinking that you've just run your battery down. Since you haven't really ridden it, the bike hasn't had the opportunity to charge the battery. Starting and idling will discharge the battery over time. This can cause a rough idle. It'd get the bike out and take it for a ride. A nice 30 minute would probably do the trick and bring everything back up to snuff.
