Default mototeck undertail on 06 f4i

I installed a mototeck undertail on my f4i and now there is a gap between the tail ferring and the grab handle. not a big deal really but water could get in now. I did not cut off or grind down the 2 mounts under the tail where the 2 rubber nuts go, is this the problem? If I pull the undertail out from between the mount and the tail ferring the gap closes like the thickness of the undertail is too much and pulling the tail down.Any ideas, all the tutorials I have looked at look like they left the mounts uncut that is really the only thing holding it all together, just these 2 bolts in the rubber speed nuts.

Use a neat cut of thin dense cell foam...or...maybe take a dremel and gntly widen the spolier rst size area....causing it to sink deeper.

More flush.

Screws might not be right length....different ways of fiddling with it.
