RE: Missing piece of Crankcase-WTF do I do???
Im not sure about the gear Greek, but i will think on that one.
As far as the broken tab goes i think you have 2 options, at least what i would try if it were my bike.
1: Clean all surfaces really well, then take some say 4-600 grit sandpaper and slightly scuff them. Run a bead of silicone and seal it up, let it cure for 24 hours. It may or may not hold, thats a pretty big area between bolts, but if you torque all bolts to spec, and do it in a crossing pattern so that they are all even it may hold for you.
2: If that does not work, take it to someone who is a good aluminum welder. Get a aluminum rod (approximatly) the same size as the bolt that goes in there. cut it to length so that it sits flush to the case. Have a welder build up a new area all around the hole and the rod. Let it all settle and then drill the rod out. Should be left with a clean hole you can then tap out with a new slightly larger size thread. Get a new bolt of the same size and done. You may have to slightly drill out the cover to allow the new bigger bolt, but then you will have your new anchor.
Not saying those are the best options, but if it were my bike thats what i would try. If i think of something else, or better i will post up.
