Long Shot, but does anyone know?
does anyone know if i could use 1000rr valve springs in a 954? i can get some titanium ones for a 1000rr, but i can't find anything for a 954. and from what i've read online so far, they seem to be the same diameter. i guess the actual valve body is a little skinnier - but couldn't i just use 1000rr valves as well then?
i just don't want to take a $500 gamble without knowing...
and if no one knows, does an motor guru on here know what measurements i'd need to have in order to see if i could run them?
any info would be appreciated

I don't have the answer for you. But I do have an 04 1000RR head in my garage that I will gladly take any measurements you need.
If I had to guess though, I'd bet the valves are not interchangable. The diameter of the shaft is different. 4.5mm for the 954 and 4.0 for the 1000rr. You would probably run into issues with valve guides and things like that. Also, the valve angles are different, which would lead me to think the shaft length is different as well. Also, the valve lift is different, which would lead me to think the working range for the valve springs is probabably different as well. One spring is more than likely taller than the other.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and there is a list of engine specifications. You can see the differences are enough that it is unlikely the valve springs and or valves will interchange.

Let me know if there is anything I can measure for ya.

ahh thanks man. i just looked at the fiche on ron ayers - different part numbers and it looks like the entire design is way different.
thanks again for the response, like i said, i know it's a long shot, but damn that would have been cool if that would have worked out.
