Default Linked brakes

Hi! New here. I'm sure you,ve probably been asked to death about this brake system. I apologize. I just bought a 1993 CBR1000f and absolutely LOVE it. What is the general consensus on the linked brake system? Is it good and is it reliable. I read a couple posts when I was searching and found this place. I have zero experience on this brake system and was hoping some of you could let me know how you personally feel about them. Should I get them changed to a split system?

Thank You for any input (good or bad)!

It has its advantages and disadvantages... if you ride in wet grass, or travel over sand/gravel on your bike often it could cause some problems with the front brake always being used. for on road as long as your stopping in a straight line its fine, but if a situation ever arises where you needed to control one or the other differently/only then you run into the problem of that not being possible.

Id personally, if you have the means, get it changed to a split system, so you have full control of how your bike handles. ive only ridden two or three times on a bike with a linked system, and i was not a fan.

im sure others will come along and correct me if they think otherwise, and add some more insight.

Welcome to the forum.

I've never understood the point of linked systems on a bike. Your system is reliable but not optimal IMO.

Thank You for your input! I put a few miles on it today while alone. I really wanted to get a feel for the bike and went on a back road to mess around. I'm not sure I like not being 100% control of the braking in a corner. Kinda scary! Maybe for panic braking, it might help. I have found a good bike place and hopefully they'll do the work. Alot of places around here HAVE to follow Honda policy and won't modify anything. Guess I need to strip the fairings off and see if I can learn how this thing works.
