Leather Jacket Vs Non-leather Jacket
I rode to work this morning and it was 17C (62F) out. It's a little chilly I must say, I might have to invest some money for a leather jacket just so I can ride a little longer..
I bought a 2 piece leather suit but summer was quite close and I was just too damned hot in the (all black) leather jacket. I soon bought a black mesh summer jacket and felt fine. It's much thinner than the leather jacket but I feel comfortable that it will hold up. When it got colder I got a all weather textile jacket which is my favorite. For a all year, daily rider like myself I feel a textile jacket is just much more versatile than a leather jacket. I use both textile jackets and never touch the leather jacket. It's heavy, it's unpractical and it's for sale. In total I think I used it 3 times.
I'll probably stick to textile (my all weather jacket also held up in a spill). Then again some brands make very nice leather jackets, I just need something that will also keep me dry if the rain surprises me. I'm not sure but perhaps some perforated leather jackets come with a liner for the warmer months.
