knocking noise from engine. 600 f4i

Hey i just bought an 02 cbr600f4i. when i ride it, i can hear a noise when the motors revved up around 5000rpm but not at an idle or anything. is this the cam chain tensioner?

It sounds like a CCTL issue. I just spoke with my local dealer and he told me $130 labor, $85 cctl $10 gaskets. He said it is rare to cause any major damage. Im thinkin with my 12k coming due I can save some dough when he replaces the Air Filter.

yeah im hoping thats all it is. im at just over 11k and ive read that its common around 12k miles.

It sure does sound bad though. Whats odd is how I didnt catch it on the test ride.

Engine Noise In My V-65

Hi All; I just found this site as I searched for an answer to a kind of clatter or chatter in the engine of the V-65 Magna that I bought new 26 years ago. It has 30,000 miles on it but the noise just started this year. A guy named Sand Man talked about the CCT that most likely is causing the noise and how to replace it.

I tried to email him but had to sign-up first and now I can't find him in this forum. Whether I find him or not, I think I can get a lot of good answers from this bunch and certainly will offer any good advice I've acquired over the years.

I'll sure tell you one thing...McGuire's Scratch X and their Cleaner Wax saved the day on the tank I've been trying to put back to perfection for way too long.
