Default Just a quick brake lever compatibility question.

Can I use an '08 cbr1000rr brake lever on an '07 cbr1000rr master cylinder? Getting ready to order the parts for my front end swap and looking at some ASV levers. Thanks in advance.

I'd suggest contacting ASV. If they only list the parts for an 08 on up, then I would say no. If the part fits more years, they should list them. The brakes are not something you want to be incorrect about. Even if they physically fit, you may have other issues.

Also, doesn't the 08 use a cable clutch while the 07 uses a hydraulic? There is more than likely a difference there as well.

Although, I am only making suggestions as I don't know the answer.

look to see if the master cylinder is the same. it might be, and if that's the case, then you sure can use it. if it's not the same master cylinder, then i wouldn't.

Thanks guys. I never even though to look up the part numbers. And yea the 07 is hydraulic but in using an 08 perch for the clutch.

and another thing you can do, is go find one of the big ebay lever vendors. they usually have you include a number (that they list on their listing) for what exact lever you use. you can usually correspond that number between years. if they're the same number, it's the same lever - so they're compatible.

that's how i found out that the cbr 954 lever and 03-04 600rr lever are the same, even though the master cyl and perch are slightly different (and not the same sku on ronayers), they still use the exact same lever

CBR600rr 03-06 and 07-12 brake levers different, clutch lever the same
CBR600F series (F2-F4i) Brake lever same, clutch lever same
