Default Jetting question CBR900RR

Hey all. I've browsed most of the "jetting" posts, but didn't find one that quite answers my own question.
I've got a '97 motor in my '94 CBR900RR that flat hauls *** across the entire RPM range when rolling the throttle on. However (I finally got it away from the city where I could do some high speed testing) in 5th/6th gear, I've found that when cruising at or above 6000 RPM, if I nail the throttle wide open, the engine accelerates slowly (smoothly, but slowly). If I roll on the throttle from the same RPM range, it accelerates quickly. In the same vein, if I go wide open, then slowly reduce the amount of throttle, the engine seems to behave better (I can feel it begin to accelerate more smoothly as I back away from wide open), kinda like it's topped a hill and able to run faster downhill......hard to describe, I know.
My gut feeling is a jetting issue (leaning out with the butterflies wide open). It's currently factory jetting w/a full D&D exhaust, stock air filter. I realize that there's some performance to be had by re-jetting, and plan on doing so in the near future, but I kinda wanted to get a feel for what it was doing right now, before messing w/a working set of carbs. Plugs look great, and it idles/cruises perfectly, just that wide open throttle glitch.
Thanks for any thoughts on this!

Sounds like the jetting is perfect. I think the problem is sticky piston/needles in the carbs that aren't rising up fast enough.

Wondered about that.....thought perhaps it was leaning out a little due to lack of fuel from incorrect needle/slide opening. Im gonna pull it all apart and see what I see (got another set of carbs to practice on before messing up my working set...heh). Thanks for the reply!
