iliana is a 01 929 and runs great most of the time but sometimes the battery died out in the middle of my commute. does not happen very often but is a pia pushing her home.
i wonder why she dies so sporadically, like today, it was running fine the whole week and started fine when leaving work and all of a sudden it died half way home. had to pushed it home and it was so embarrassing when people looked at me, heck there was even this asian girl who smiled at me i bet she thought "poor thing, pushing his awesome bike home".
any thoughts?

 

maybe a bad ground somewhere. just a thought.

 

I would put my money on the idea that something is wrong with the charging system. I would check the battery and the regulator/rectifiter. a bad gound is also a good guess.

 

nah is not the charging system, each component is almost new. i just found out whats wrong with it, a couple times when starting the bike i noticed that the fuel pump was not priming, did some test and the pump was working so i giggle with the wires and got it to run, then yesterday happened the same thing so after a couple of hits on the wall (my head) found that theres a little junction box (orange in color) on the wire harness that if i giggle that box, the fuel pump goes on and off so i have a short circuit there that may explain battery drain and fuel pump not working some times.

 

good find. way to stay on it and find the problem. i kinda thought it was a wiring issue.

 

yeah it is, there are some wires that come out of the main harness and go to that little orange box then , inside that box, theres two metal things that act as a bridge and then the same wires come out from the box. a few months ago i had a issue with that box but seems like the issue is back. i dunno whats the function of that box but is a pia. back when i checked that box it was all corroded and wires weren't making good contact.
