Default I can't turn the key in the ignition on my 2001 CBR 929RR to the on position.

I can't turn the key in the ignition on my 2001 CBR 929RR to the on position to start my motorcycle. I have already squirted WD40 into the ignition. That worked the first time that I used the WD40, now I still can't turn the key in the ignition to the on position.

I can unlock my handlebars with the key. I can turn the key to the OFF position without any problems. I can't turn the key to the ON position to start my motorcycle.

Post a picture of your ignition... Does it look like someone tried to mess with it?

In college, someone tried to steal my bike by trying to hammer a flathead screwdriver into the ignition... I had issues after that with the key...

Im sure you tried it both ways. Also dont stick it in all the way "thats what she said". One of my bikes is like that, you stick it in all the way, it wont turn, but if I pull it out just the slightest bit it works.

I'll pull the key out slightly, and try to see if my key will turn in the ignition tonight. Thanks.

I tried pulling the key out slightly from the ignition, and tried to turn the key to the ON position to start my motorcycle with no success. My key still won't turn in my ignition.

Not meaning to ask a potentially offensive question but, are you positive you are using the correct key?

Since you can turn the key from lock to off, then something in the housing must be broken.

How wore is the key? Maybe its not "defined" enough. Maybe get a blank and cut it yourself with a dremel so its really sharp and defined. Maybe.
