i broke part of the motor, need help please
Long story short, i took a spill the other day on my 2000 cbr 600 f4 and with my crappy luck it ended up breaking my motor. it looks to me like it might just be a cover and is easily replaceable, but honestly i have no idea, so i was hoping you guys could tell me what i can do, if its easy, and the cost. i appreciate any help.

i dont know if it runs, haven't started it cuz all the oil drained out through that hole. the street where i crashed was completely covered in oil. i need to replace the part before i start it.
It's highly likely that some of the pieces of the stator cover (the part that broke went into your engine instead of out on the road. You need to take the cover off and look inside for any pieces that may be lying around. Hopefully none went down into the oil pan. Another possibility is that your stator coil was damaged in the wreck. If this is the case, your battery will not recharge when it is supposed to. I would recommend taking it to a shop to test the charging system at least.
Usually the stator is fine. When replacing the cover, just look inside for rogue pieces. Be sure to be careful with the little sproket in there and put on a new cover and gasket. I changed my oil & filter when I did mine.
take the fairings off and look to see if there are any small cracks in the engine block itself. If there isn't then the engine should be fine. As long as you still have the tilt sensor still on the bike and when you took the spill, then engine cut off before the oil drained out.
If your wreck was as violent as my RR wreck last year, then your stator, stator basket could be broken as well (I also had a crack in the engine block), just make sure those parts are un touched. Order a new gasket and cover, as well as any new screws that need replacing since sometimes when you lowside, the heads get grinded off.
