How to tighten my clutch?

How to tighten my clutch?
I recently picked up a 1999' CBR600f4. It seems that the clutch is engaging too late. When i'm letting the clutch out it doesn't start to grab until the lever is almost completely released... Can i just tighten the cable at the lever, or is there a better way to tighten up my clutch?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, this bike is a totally different than my last...
Any help is appreciated!

On the back of the clutch handle theres a round lockdown nut threaded onto a hollow bolt thats part of the end of the clutch cable. Thats what you'll want to adjust. If your clutch is engaging late in the travel you'll want to loosen the lockdown, thread the adjust bolt in more (clockwise) then tighten the lockdown. As you adjust it inwards you'll notice the shifting point moving closer towards the beginning of the travel. Keep going till you get it where you want it. You do not want to "tighten" it any more, if it's shifting at the end of travel you want to loosen it at the clutch handle.
And welcome to the forums.

What's happening right now is that when you pull the clutch only the first little bit of travel is disengaging the clutch, the rest of the pull is just moving it even further apart even though its already moved it enough to disengage it in that first little bit of movement. So it's actually set right now to overclutch it. If it's too tight like that it might actually cause some slippage from the cable not letting the clutch all the way engage. You want to move the shift point further "into" the travel so that its using more of the movement to engage/disengage the clutch, so you literally have the move the cable more "into" the travel, threading it out more and "tightening" it up more will just overclutch it more.
