Default RE: how to remove swingarm...

i just looked into doing this on my f4i because i am going to get it powdered as well...at least for the f4i, it's not too difficult....the main issue is there is a castle nut where the swingarm attaches to the frame...to buy the honda part is like $55 or something....now you can make one if you have a grinder and the correct socket size (hopefully a spare).....then on the whole, from looking at my service manual, doesn't look bad at all....

putting it back on looks to be a pain though because there is a handful of torque values for putting back on the castle nut, the lock nut, etc....

oh and it's also important to note that you'll have to find a way to support the bike seeing as rear stands use the swingarm....so either jackstands under the headers or if you have a garge, supporting by a strap on a beam....etc.....

hope that helps, it's not much but at least it's a start....find the service manual for the rr and it will help A LOT! post pics when you do it...

For supporting the bike, I use a cherry picker and straps. While you have the rear end torn down, I recomendregreasingthe bearings in the rear end suspension.

It's actauly very easy on the 600RR, teh only "special" tool you'll need is a couple of VERY large allen drivers, you don't have to remove the castle nut.
I would recommened getting new seals for the the piviot point and re-grease ALL the bearings. But it's really very simple.
