Question how do you test coils

what is the easiest way to test a coil to see if it is defective

I believe you can just insert a sparkplug in it, the crank the engine while touching the plug to the engine/frame. If you see a spark, then it's working.

second that... as long as the plug is grounded out on the frame it should spark. or u can be daring and hold the plug in ur palm and crank it? you'll no if its working... lol jk jk jk dont do that

Lol, in Highschool our shop teacher had us all hold hands and zapped the whole class with a plug wire to demonstrate how strong the current was.

hahahahaha! what did you guys think? did it go through through everyone? my dad tricked me when i was a kid, i was changin plugs on my snowmobile and he told my brother to go pull start it... never again.

Grounding it to the frame is the simple way to confirm you're getting fire. If you have access to a megger then you can look up what the resistance should be and meg it out. But generally if it'll spark it's good ...
