You're better off sticking with DOT 4. Yes, DOT 5 can handle greater temperatures, but the DOT 4 lubes the "blink" and protects the "er" against thermal breakdown.

American manufacturers seem to think SAE is a standard worth keeping, in which case you could use anything from DOT 2 all the way up to DOT 4. Bleh...

ok guys so my blinkers stopped working the other day out of the blue. i checked the reservoir today (which is a PITA to get that cap off btw!) and it was bone dry. i filled it up but now whenever my lights blink they change different color, almost like a disco light. do you think i messed something up running it dry?
