Default How 2 hook up gas tank...

Hey guys,
I want to get some seafoam into my carbs directly (and very, very slowly).

I would obviously need to have the gas tank off the bike, and wondering how to hook it up.

In my manual, it shows 3 hoses which connect to the tank.

1. Main fuel line connecting to petcock/valve
2. Drain Tube
3. Breather Tube

Do I just need to extend a gas line from the tank to the Main Fuel Line? Do I leave the Drain Tube and Breather Tube as they are (don't hook up to anything?)

Thanks for any tips

How about just mixing it in with the fuel? It's 1oz per gallon ratio; more or less. That's what most folks (me included) do. I suppose you could get a spray bottle and mist them while its running.

I thought about misting it too, or setting it to spray sharp while point at the carb.

I think I might have to get the carbs out and cleaned. I have a feeling seafoam isn't going to cure this one.

Its got a tough time starting up. With choke on, I have to keep blipping to the throttle to get it started. Once warmed up, it idles and restart just fine.

I saw the HOWTO on cleaning carbs, but its not really in depth. Any links to a really good howto on cleaning F3 carbs?

Thanks!

The Service Manual will show disassembly/reassembly instructions. While they're torn apart, it's just a matter of blasting them with a cleaner spray. LINK. Afterwards, you'll have to synchronize them.

EDIT: Fixed the link, sorry

one tip that may help you. when i cleaned my ninja 250 carbs i used a cleaner that was safe on rubber parts ect. Well the piston diaphragms tend to get out of shape after cleaning, they swell or something. If you find that is the case, let them dry out and go back to normal or it may make it difficult to keep the lips in the proper place on the carb body. You could damage the diaphragm if it is not properly seated before putting the cap over it. Thems pieces is expensive!
