Honda HP4 oil question?

Honda HP4 oil question?
Have a question about Honda HP4M (silver bottle) and HP4 (gold bottle) oil? Both of these oils say almost the exact same thing....they are both used in high performance bikes....they are the best.....etc. etc. They only difference between the two is that the HP4M has and additive called "moly" and the HP4 does not. The label does not state what "moly" does and if it is needed or not. The parts guy said that since I have not used HP4 oil in my bike yet that I should use the HP4 a couple of times and then switch to HP4M, but he did not tell me what "moly" does for my bike. Any ideas?

RE: Honda HP4 oil question?
Moly is short for molybendum.Molybendum is an additive put in oil to help reduce friction by adhering to the walls of the piston chamber. So this kind of oil would only work well with motorcycles that have dry clutches or motorcycles that do not share the same oil with their respective transmission parts, like Harley Davidsons. This means if you go and put oil that has moly in your bike, and i assume you have a wet clutch system, this moly additive would adhere to your clutch plates and cause your clutch to slip.If you accidently put it in your bike flush it out with the correct oil and replace the filter. If it was a one time accident you should be fine.

I think all sports bikes have a wet clutch? And like I said your dealer doesn't know anything because he told you to put it in your bike which would have been bad. lol
