high % ethanol fuel
I've done some serching and reading, but can't search e85, too few letters...
Anywho, I live in Nebraska, where there's ethanol galore. A local station offers several blends of ethanol fuels. The standard 10% blend which is 89 octane (what I normally run in all my vehicles, and bike) but they also have 20%, 30% and 85% blends, with much higher octane ratings. I don't know the specific octane ratings on each fuel, but I know that they go well over 100.
I've read that there really isn't much benefit to running higher octane in a '00 F4, but the higher the % ethanol the cheaper the fuel. So it's a matter of less money and higher octane.
I guess my question is: Are any of these fuels other than the 10% blend safe? I'd like to try the higher blends, but naturally I don't want to hurt anything either.
Thanks!
