HELP!!! Rider down, and cuts off
well me and some of my buddies went out riding yesterday, and one of my friends went down. He's not one of us (honda), but im sure you guys could help us find the problem.
Bike = 1998 gsxr 750
mods = d&d slip on
so he went down, and the bike was stuck at a nose down position for maybe 1.5 minutes until we could get it off the hill. after we got the bike upright and on two wheels we noticed the chain fell off, so we put the it back on.
Then we tried to start it but it wouldnt roll over. the starter was trying to kick it but, it just didnt want to roll over. So we then tried to push start it and she fired up. however, she couldnt idle properly and would cut off. but since the push start, she will crank everytime now.
now that we have the bike running, she sounds horrible, terribly under powered, and the more you give it gas, the more she wants to stall.
we were able to ride slowly ~2 miles to get to my buddies house.
i know a lot of you guys know your ****, so any ideas?

im by no means a mechanic or a whiz, but im gonna say check all of your electrical connections in the nose, headlights, fuse box etc, maybe you broke or shorted out some wires, then move on to spark plug wires, etc, as far as the starter not turning the engine over i have no clue
if the bike is at an angle for any amount of time, fluids shift. it's possible that some oil or coolant got in the air box gunking some things up. I too am no mechanic.. just food for thought.

Yer ... definmately took a mouthful of something wet... but may have just been fuel
Start with swapping the plugs out ...
The bike should be quite ok
I am more concerned with the bloody chain coming off!!!!! [:-]
geezus ..now that's a way to have a major crash !!!... ???
screw up a chain at any speed and it wont be fluid causing it not to start again mate ..
Make sure your mate goes and services his chain before his next adventure ..ok

yeah as all already said. But I think I would start with the air box. make sure its not full of crap. If oil ended up in there, it more than likely soaked his air breather and its not getting the air it needs to run.
