HELP ME!!!!!
I can't figure out what the problem is with my f2. The plugs are firing, but if I spray starting fluid straight down the carb ports it just back fires and nothing else. This bike sat outside in the weather for about a year and never ran again. The carbs have been taken completly apart and soaked, but still nothing please help. I bought it for 700.00 thinking it would be a simple fix. The bike only has 6500 miles on it. It's a 94 cbr f2 600 if that helps.
What do you mean by soaked. You must physically make sure every passage is unclogged. My f3 has problems when is sits for as little a 3 mos. Im not familiar with the F2, but if there is a fuel pump you must make sure that is working. Use a Jumper wire to run the pump until the bowls are full. Maybe it sat because there was an underlying problem.
Thank you for the reply back. I soaked the carbs in a carb solution for a couple nights each.As for a fuel pump. I think the f2 is only gravity fed, unless there is a pump hiding somewhere on the bike, but I don't think so. I'm pretty sure f2's don't have pumps but could be wrong.
Its sounds as though you have a timing issue. The problem may even be in the magneto that reads off your crank as it turns. It doesn't sound as though you have a fuel problem though because it should do more than just back fire. Good luck and hope to see you riding soon.
it might be a timing problem but....
My 96 F3 did the same thing till I changed the plugs, after that, fired right up and has run ever since. Could your plugs be gas fouled? I would try simple stuff first before you to to more expansive/expensive exploritory surgery on your bike. See if this helps

Thanks for repling back. I just put new plugs in and I keep pulling them out and checking to see if there fouled, but they always look brand new. Right now it's on the back of a Tacoma ready to go to the cycle shop. Thanks for the info! I'll let you know what happens.
