Default Help! CBR dead in the water!

I purchased my 99 honda cbr 600 f4 about 2 months ago and it has been running flawless until now. (It now has 21,000 miles on it) I had just recently had the oil changed (Half synthetic blend) and the chain tighten. I was leaving work and had just gotten on the freeway when the engine cut out on me as I was riding it. I pulled over and tried numerous times to restart it, but I was only able to restart it once with the choke on full and then it died right away. I took it to the local honda dealer for a diagnostic and they told me that their senior tech has no idea whats wrong with it and that they are going to contact Honda directly to see if there's any known problems with the bike. This sucks that this is happening in the middle of summer so please if you have any ideas let me know. Thanks again!

Trying to diagnose a problem on a bike is diffiicult and is a long process. My bike also is giving me some problems, and I am going through everything one by one. I am sure the dealer could figure out what is wrong with your bike, however it may take their tech several hours to find the cause, and when they do find it, they have no guarantee that you will pay them to fix it. For that reason I think you are getting the run around. If you have the tools and basic knowledge of wrenching, there is no reason why you couldn't give it a stab yourself. If you have no idea what the difference between a box-end wrench and a screwdriver is you may be at the dealer's mercy. If that is the case, I would impress upon the dealer's service rep that you have every intension of having them fix the problem, within reason. That way your bike would not be a losing proposition for them. A second option would be take it to your local neighborhood speed shop instead of a dealer.
