If it were me, I'd probably just get a new stock stator/alternator cover from either the dealer (depending on the price) or a place like Mr. Cycles etc, (I think they're like $59+14= $73shipped).
Wait, here's a link just in case.

Glad to hear she fired up ok. Good news.

try and stick with the oem cover, after market covers can be problematic...peece
