Help!
so last night i get the bike out for a ride. starts up just fine when i take it out of the garage. fill it up at the gas station, get on it and absolutely nothing when i try to start it. fuel pump primes, gauges and lights come on, but no turning over when i hit the ignition button. this has happened in the past a couple times but usually after a couple trys it works. not this time. had to roll start it on the falttest span of road in the whole damn city. im ruling out battery issues. im thinking a bad connection with the switch itself? maybe a side stand issue? is there a fuse for the starting mechanism itself? any help at all would be great.
if it was the side stand safety switch, it wouldn't keep running. I'll bet the thumb switch just needs to be cleaned and refreshed. honda makes some pretty snazzy contact cleaner, go out and get a can or some form of electric contact cleaner. get a packet of Dielectric grease too and use it to coat the contacts when you're ready to put it back together.
