i just got this 88 hurricane 1000 and there is a loud rattling noise coming from the front of the engine. I adjusted the tensioner at the bottom of the right side of the engine (loosend the pich bolt then turned the dial all the way countercloskwise then backed it off) didn't help. the sound doesn't go away when the bike warms up. Every time i slow down to around 2000 rpm the noise is there, and it's loud.

 

when was the last time the carbs were cleaned and sync'd?

I am guessing the carbs are out of sync and therefor running unevenly...
