Helmet visor flips up at speed
When I'm riding at higher speeds (60+ mph) and I look back to change lanes or merge the wind will sometimes catch my visor and flip it up. If I'm going fast enough the wind will blow my flipped up visor hard enough to yank my head back which is obviously a safety issue that could very easily cause me to wreck. I'm a student and money is tight so I'd like to avoid buying a new $300 helmet if possible so I was thinking about making some kind of lock for my visor, any ideas?
What kind of helmet? A good helmet has strong detents to prevent this from happening. My shoei also has a lock to prevent it from being raised, but its built into the hinge.
There are good inexpensive helmets out there that can be had for alot less than $300.

It's an Icon Mainframe helmet, I know there are cheaper helmets out there but I thought I'd at least try to make my own visor lock before I go out and buy a new helmet cause I'm cheap like that haha.
Adhesive backed velcro...at walmart...yocan get a roll, it's great for securing the wire harness or extra accessories too. just small tabs that are big enough to hold but not get in the way of the visor function.
Are there any screws where the visor pivots on the helmet? If so, tighten them slightly to make the action a bit stiffer. I've never had a helmet flip its visor in years of motorcycling and I've had some dirt cheap ones in the past. Without seeing your helmet it's hard to imagine why it would flip up at all. Can only suggest getting another helmet before you have an accident!
