The State Patrol governs vehicle inspection and safety laws in most states - Ohio appears to be no different. Call the State Patrol headquarters

while this doesn't describe exactly what your bike needs to pass inspection, this is a link to the Motor Vehicle code for Ohio - there's other useful info there, like lighting laws, and so on.

Here's your local State Patrol contact info:

*edit* - I'm bored @ work and called the toll free # for Ohio state patrol. I asked them if I had a non-functional speedometer, would my bike pass inspection. told her that indicators work, just the speedo doesn't register my speed. She asked her Sargent, and he stated "that should not fail a vehicle, but obviously as a motor vehicle operator, I am still responsible for maintaining legal speeds on public roadways. "

So, there you go.

Sounds that way. I dunno if you're trying to pass a inspection or just not get pulled over.

Well I hate to point this out but cops don't deal with arguments of legal or illegal. Courts do.

Meaning when in doubt (and pretty sure this'll be a head scratcher for most cops on a traffic stop), he'll issue the ticket and tell you let the judge sort it out
