Default Is it a good deal?

i found a bike on Craigslist and you can tell it has been somewhat neglected and certainly needs an oil change, it is an 2008 cbr 600rr and he wants 3050 after talking him down? What do you think

Seems cheap. How neglected is it?

I would take it to a shop and have it inspected, but only after doing a background check on the VIN and title.

Talk to your biker buddies to ask their opinions or have it inspected by a workshop. You may find the word-of-mouth information you gather personally. Sometimes the cheap may harm.

The last work(he does his own) he did was in 2015, he put on new tires and new chain and sprocket at that time, He bought it at 3000 miles and it has 13000 miles. I aksed him about the oil, and he said it will need to be changed. Reason for selling was he didnt ride enough. He told me it was in good condition mechanically, it had been dropped and the fairing was a little cracked.

You may have answered your question unless you want encouragement to be pushed over the edge! If you are hesitant to buy the bike then don't do it. If this is something you've always wanted and lost sleep after walking away go for it! After that, my concerns would be whether it caught the ethanol flu from sitting a lot, whether I could get all summer out of the consumables (tires, chain, battery, brakes, etc) and if the blemishes bothered me too bad.

Did you check out any web search results and see content similar to "Do not buy this bike - Ever!" That is important, the bike is old enough to get solid intel on reliability.

And the big one - Is plunking down $3K for a motorcycle going to seriously alter your future financially, and would a breakdown put you in a state of long term despair. From what you say, it's a sweet low mileage bike that seems ok to me. Just make sure you can swing it, and are aware of the risks buying an older mechanical toy.

The choice is ultimately up to you, and whatever decision is made I hope it works out!

Bikes are usually cheap for a reason so be very suspicious, there are plenty of CBR 600RR’s out there so no need to buy a dog.

Sound well and truly neglected, so expect to have to pay out for work/parts I reckon. If it's sat around a lot be prepared for frozen bolts etc
