Default Gapless piston rings??

I upgraded my old Hurricane with Wiseco R1049 overbore kit, to get the 998cc up to 1049cc... Did not get to drive it even 3k miles, when the piston rings failed... oil rings lost their tension, thus flooding the 2 other rings with excess oil in bore. No power, smoking heavily etc...

Now I'm considering Totalseal M3110GX ring set, with gapless top ring. Anybody have some opinions on them, or better yet, experience on their gapless top ring on bikes?

Pretty hefty on the price side, but then again, Wiseco rings aren't cheap either.

Do I need to get the cylinders honed again, as the bike has not got so much miles on it after fitting the oversize piston kit...? Crosshatch is clearly showing.

Did you gap the rings supplied with the oversize re-bore or did you just fit them onto the pistons and install them? I've never heard of the gapless ring set you mentioned so I can't comment on them. I'll take a look at them later in Google. If the cross hatching is still visible and there is no obvious damage to the bores, I'd fit a new set of standard rings, making sure you gap them and space them out 120 degrees from one another so that the gaps aren't in line with one another. Sometimes the rings have to be fitted one way up so check before installing them onto the pistons. Let us know what you decide to do. Other members may have other ideas to help you.

Yes I did. Cylinder walls should show some marks if the gaps were too small? Or the rings? There's no such marks that suggests too small gaps...

If the rings had no gaps I would imagine the pistons would soon seize as they expand. As there are no visible marks on the cylinders it might be worth trying new rings, spacing them out as I stated earlier 120 degrees. Check also that the rings don't have to face one up way before you fit them. The problem with fitting rings with the gaps all in one line is that the oil will find its way through them and be burnt, hence the blue smoke. Keep me informed as to how things go.
