Fuse Keeps Blowing
The fuse that goes to the brake light, blinkers, horn & instrument panel keeps blowing - as soon as I turn the ignition to on. I slipped at a stop sign this morning and dropped the bike on the right side (coincidence?) Any help or ideas on finding the short would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks
Thank you, I just checked the blinkers, no wires were cut or exposed. I'm going to get a volt/ohm meter but I have no clue what to do with it...?
Do I clip it onto the outside of the wires & just go around the bike where ever I see connections? I have a '99 600F4, I also downloaded a manual for a F3 (so far haven't found a F4 manual & I figured they should be similar)
From what I can tell everything should show up at 12 volts. Need some tips on what a "short" will look like & how to discover it.
Thanks

You have to clip the meter to a ground and then put the point into the wire, but even with that, a short shoulgnt cause a problem until they are in use, not just turned on. I would check the wires that go to the main fuses and relays and check all connections
Well, I couldn't find a short but I removed the blinker bulbs & put them back in - everything is fine now (it was magic I guess). I did find a '99 F4 service manual by doing a search in the archives here. Thanks for the feedback.
